INSULATION GLASS

Insulation glass (IG) is your ticket to conserving energy and lowering electricity costs. Each “IG unit” usually consists of two (and sometimes three) panes of glass sealed around the edges but with air space between them, such as a half-inch. These air spaces are an effective form of insulation, and even more so if a noble gas is placed within the space, such as argon, krypton or xenon. Mexim Caribbean insulation glass typically uses argon when requested. It is an inert, clear, odorless non-toxic gas that makes up about 1% of the Earth’s atmosphere, so it’s readily available and not expensive to obtain. In cold climates, insulated glass is primarily about keeping warm air in and cold air out, but in the tropical environment the exact opposite is what we’re aiming for – keeping warm air out and cool air in! Insulation glass works equally well both ways.
